Astrology - the word that splits the world into 3 main categories- the true believers, the strict non-believers and the skeptical folks. Here, I would like to split the true believers' category - people who believe in the real astrology and people who believe in superstition.When I said that i believe in astrology, i saw 'that look' on the people's face and i could read a dozen things from that. Before being judgmental and labeling me as an old-fashioned, superstitious girl, I would like to pose a question to all those in the non-believer category-- According to you, what is Astrology? Is the daily/weekly horoscope readings that flood your spam or the one you find in the weekly magazines called astrology? No, that is not the astrology and science has proven it to be bullshit. They are just made-up and are based on general prediction. How is it possible to categorize the people in entire world into 12 zodiac signs? Come on, it is not possible. Science and Astrology can not be separate. They are inter-linked and there is a fine line between "Believing in Astrology" and "Believing in Superstition".
Lets talk science for a minute. Studies were conducted and The American Institute of Climatology did a study for the Philadelphia police department and proved that the full moon effects the human behavior. If we talk quantum physics, we studied that what effects the solar system effects the atom. We are all made up of atoms and this is the simple theory that was the basis for our ancient, Indian Astrological science, which was formulated even before the world knew what Quantum Physics was. Our ancients, whom the modern Indian world terms as "superstitious fools" believed that the stars have a relation with the working of human mind and these theories are being proven in this 21st century by the Western world, who we look up to. Even some world famous physiologists believed and proved that when a person is born, the influence of planets is exerted on him.
The other day, me and my friends were having a discussion on the importance of "Kundali Matching" and its impacts on the married life. Things like some 'pujaris' robbing the people off their money in the name of Astrology and how Astrology is a bullshit have come up. Just because a few, or lets say, a majority of the priests are collecting the money from the innocent people, just like it is their right to do so, doesn't mean that Astrology is a bullshit. Astrology is a great ancient science which is being greatly misused in our country. Kundali matching is never a bullshit. A 50 year old lady once asked me that why are people so stupid enough to do the matching even in this modern age. Well, my grand parents did not have their kundali matched. Even my mom and dad didn't get their Kundali matched. But dear all non-believers, the mentality of women in my Grand mom's age or my mom's age is completely different from the mentality of the women in the present day. The modern day women are independent and they have their freedom unlike our previous generations. They are strong and are even excelling men in their careers. It is an undeniable fact that with the independence, self-dependency and confidence, there came a change in our thoughts, there came a strong urge to suppress the gender inequality. With these good things, came a little bit of ego too. The present day couple is entirely different from the older generation. Their ego comes in between them instead of understanding and both men and women are responsible for this. There is no place for adjustments and sacrifices. Divorce has become an easy thing. In such cases, checking the compatibility is highly important. The effect of birth date and time on a person's characteristics is proven scientifically. Astrology gives an overall, rough prediction of how the person's characteristics and mentality might be and based on this, we can check if the couple have similar mentality and if they can get along to lead a happily ever after life. If it is an arranged marriage, what is wrong in checking for compatibility and choosing someone who has somewhat similar mentality? Well, you don't get to date that person for years and finally marry in the case of traditional, arranged weddings..and so what's wrong in checking the compatibility for a better life, when it is scientifically proven? But again, in spite of all this matching, i say, trust, love and understanding is important. Any "mismatching" can be overcome with love, determination and trust. But again, you can never clap with a single hand. It has to be a mutual understanding. Without efforts, even a perfectly matched couple can't live happily. It is the same with individual horoscopes. It gives you a rough, not-so clear picture of your life and so you can mould yourself and the situations to avoid disturbances in their life. Nothing is impossible with a strong willpower.
And all my superstitious believers out there, who believe in all the shit that these daily horoscopes and fake pandits say, just do some research and try to understand the fine line between what real astrology is and what a superstition is. A person's name can't predict a person's mentality. If I change my name to Angelina Jolie, am I gonna become like Angelina Joile?? If I feed some frogs in a pond, is my fate gonna turn around?? Am i gonna become a successful person without any hard work, just because it is written so in my horoscope?? A horoscope can say that a person has good mind power and will achieve big, based on his planet positions. But nothing can be achieved if that person decides to sit idle without working hard. Just think!! And dear non-believer friends, if you still feel that Astrology, which is now being scientifically proven by the world's most powerful and advanced nations, is a complete shit, and you still wanna label me as that "old-fashioned, superstitious lady", I am ready to take it. I love to embrace the great ancient Indian wisdom and if that is the title you would love to give me for doing so, I happily accept it.
